How founding a VR startup has helped former TV reporter Sarah Hill harness feedback

Sarah Hill’s journey as a startup founder has taught her to value feedback.

“You need not just create content,” she said, “you also need to measure it.”

That’s one of the lessons Hill has learned by leading StoryUP studios. The Columbia-based startup makes Healium, which combines virtual reality experiences with biometric measurements in an effort to reduce stress and anxiety.

A former television journalist, Hill was driven to found her company in part by the stress she experienced in her old line of work. Now, through Healium, she is trying to help others in high-stress environments like the workplace.

“You’re able to see your feelings displayed in the screen,” Hill said, “and know that your thoughts have power to control things not only in the virtual world, but the real world as well.”
