Missouri small business Cohen Architectural Woodworking makes national ‘Small Giants’ list

Cohen Architectural Woodworking, a family-owned firm that designs and builds a range of woodwork projects, has been named to the fifth annual Small Giants list published by Forbes. The St. James company joins 24 other U.S. small businesses to achieve the honor.

The list highlights private companies “whose commitment to greatness over fast growth” has helped “customers, employees and communities” while also ensuring profitability, according to Forbes.

Founded by Phil Cohen in 1982, the architectural woodworking company has grown to employ 80 people and serve national clients like Walmart, T-Mobile and Lowe’s. In 2019, the firm had $12.5 million in revenue, according to Forbes.

In recognizing the business, Forbes highlighted its efforts to hire formerly incarcerated people and recovering addicts.

Past honors for Cohen Architectural Woodworking include the Small Business Administration’s 2017 Missouri Small Business Person of the Year award and the 2016 Rolla Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year award.
