Proposed Blues Museum To Boost Fundraising, With A Little State Help

The people who want to build a blues museum in downtown St. Louis plan to ramp up their fundraising in the next few months, and they’ll ask the state this week for a spark.

City officials and organizers of the proposed National Blues Museum will request $2 million in tax credits designed to help draw private donations to the $13.6 million project. If the Missouri Development Finance Board approves, museum organizers hope to raise enough money to start construction early next year and open in late 2013.
