Ad tech startup Advocado plans to add 100 jobs in downtown St. Louis

St. Louis-based advertising technology startup Advocado announced plans Wednesday to create more than 100 technology jobs over the course of the next three years. The positions will be based in downtown St. Louis and include engineering, sales, marketing, operations and data science roles.

The company makes data tools designed to help clients coordinate advertising campaigns across multiple screens. Advocado uses watermark technology and analyses of online behavior to inform its clients of people’s prospective offline activities in an effort to increase advertising engagement.

The company said it evaluated multiple markets before deciding to stay and build in St. Louis.

“Our passion for revitalizing the economy in St. Louis naturally attracted us to the urban core,” Advocado co-founder and CEO Brian Handrigan said in a press release. “At the same time, our collaboration with the regional team that was convened by Greater St. Louis, Inc. allowed us to see how the city could function as a launchpad for our growing business.”

The startup said Greater St. Louis, Inc. provided market analysis, insights and other assistance that led to its decision to expand in St. Louis. Greater St. Louis, Inc. is composed of several civic, business support and economic development groups that combined into one entity this year.
