UMKC Gets $2.1 Million to Fund Digital Sandbox Startup Incubator

Take $2.1 million dollars and turn it into $10 million in two years.

That’s the ambitious goal of the new Digital Sandbox, an incubator for technology businesses that will be in Kansas City’s Union Station.

The IT startup project, announced Wednesday by the Innovation Center at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, will become reality because of federal and state funding sources. The money, along with professional help from UMKC staff and professors and employees from Sprint, Hallmark Cards, VML, RareWire, Cerner and UMB, is designed to help launch at least 10 startups.
