Startup LockerDome Raises $6M From Big Sports Names

LockerDome, the St. Louis startup behind a fast-growing sports social media network, has raised $6 million from investors including some prominent sports figures.

The lead investor is Cultivation Capital Growth Fund, a new venture capital fund based in St. Louis. Investors also include St. Louis Cardinals president William DeWitt III, other members of the Cardinals ownership group, former St. Louis Blues hockey player Chris Pronger and an unidentified member of the Milwaukee Brewers ownership.

LockerDome in February announced a strategic partnership with USA Today Sports, and its unique visitors have grown from 4 million in December to 10 million last month. The company, which was recognized in January as one the St. Louis IT Entrepreneur Network’s top 10 startups, currently has 20 employees and could double in size over the next year, CEO Gabe Lozano said.
