Kansas City Startup Village may be getting a boost from an effort by NetWork Kansas, which administers the state’s entrepreneurship tax credit to nearly 40 mostly rural communities. NetWork Kansas is working to create an investment fund to be doled out among companies in Startup Village, which is located along the Missouri-Kansas border near midtown Kansas City, Mo.
In late June, NetWork Kansas’ board approved $125,000 in tax credits. If those credits are sold by year’s end, they would yield $167,000 for the investment fund, which will go to companies on the Kansas side of the state line. Startup Village is in the process of designating who will sit on the leadership team that accepts applications for the money and provides awards.
