Digital Sandbox, a startup project developer organization, reached its goal of raising $7 million in investments for its startup companies in Kansas City six months early.
Their original goal was to help 10 startups secure investments, but Digital Sandbox ended up helping 19 area startup companies raise the $7 million.
The money should provide these companies with add-on funding and should get them one step closer to being commercialized.
Digital Sandbox was initially funded by a $1 million federal grant to provide early-stage technology companies with resources to help them grow. The organization stretched its grant money to aid 37 early-stage companies’ projects, though the program was designed to fund only 30 startups.
