Venture Capital Investments In Missouri Drop In 1Q

Venture capitalists invested less money in Missouri during the first quarter of 2014 than in any previous quarter dating back to the fourth quarter of 2010, according to a new report that tracks quarterly investments by state.

The MoneyTree Report, put out by PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association, found that VCs invested $4.55 million into 11 deals in Missouri over the first three months of this year, the smallest amount of capital invested into Missouri companies since VCs invested $4.1 million into two deals in the fourth quarter of 2010.

Overall dollars invested in Missouri in the first quarter were down significantly to to $17.2 million from $26.8 million in the first quarter of 2013. Deal flow remained steady.
