Adarza BioSystems, a life-science startup located in St. Louis’ BioGenerator incubator, has raised $2 million in a Series A round to help support future expansion and product development. St. Louis-based venture capital firm Cultivation Capital led the round, which included 12 other investors.

Adarza CEO Rand Henke said the money would be used to make two additional hires in the company’s St. Louis offices and transfer two more employees from its New York offices. The move would make St. Louis the company’s headquarters. Adarza previously moved part of its operations to the city from New York in April 2013.

Adarza develops and manufactures biomedical technology to help with cancer diagnostics and allergy testing, among other applications.

Henke said the company would likely raise another $2 million later this year to complete its Series A round.
