At the Sprint Accelerator Healthcare Reverse Pitch, entrepreneurs need not to explain their own businesses — people from Kansas City health care organizations will be doing the pitching.

The Techstars-powered accelerator is teaming up with the University of Kansas Hospital and Collab, a student-led organization at the University of Kansas, to invite local health entrepreneurs to listen to challenges posed by members of the health care community.

The event, which is a free and public, starts tonight at 5 at the Sprint Accelerator, located at 210 West 19th Terrace in Kansas City’s Crossroads District.

John Fein, the managing director of the Sprint Accelerator, said the event is a great way to engage individuals from local health care organizations and to strengthen the accelerator’s relationship with the KU Hospital.

“This is a great opportunity to engage them in events where they have a direct input by bringing individuals from their organization to pitch some problems that they see within KU Med,” Fein said.

The event will also serve as an opportunity for startups interested in applying for the mobile health accelerator’s 2015 class to get a feel for the program.

“If we can help to spur innovation and entrepreneurship in health care in Kansas City, that would be a wonderful thing and obviously the second part of that goal would be to find health care startups that would potentially be a good fit for our next year’s program,” Fein said.
