Startup tour hits Missouri, AOL founder lauds local companies

Steve Case, the co-founder of AOL and chairman of Washington, D.C.-based investment venture Revolution, praised the Midwest for its sound entrepreneurial infrastructure during a visit to Missouri.

The well-known entrepreneur brought his “Rise of the Rest” bus tour to Kansas City and then St. Louis for a series of events to celebrate local entrepreneurship. In an appearance at Washington University, he praised St. Louis for its startups.

“Right now, the sense is you can’t start a company unless you’re in Silicon Valley, New York or Boston,” he said in an interview. “Yet there are great companies being built all across the country, including St. Louis, and I want to make sure that story gets told.”
