Here’s how Kansas City startups find funding (Infographic)

The Kansas City startup ecosystem is a vibrant and dynamic community, but it’s lacking in microloans, seed capital and locally based venture capital firms. That’s according to the KCSourceLink report, called We Create Capital, that was released this month in conjunction with 1Week KC.

The Kansas City region garnered more than $668 million in equity investments from 2009 to 2014, ranking 11th among its peer U.S. metro areas in equity funding during that period. At the same time, the Kansas City Regional Microloan program, launched in 2012, funded fewer than 300 businesses.
