The deadline for startups seeking $50,000 LaunchKC grants is fast approaching.
LaunchKC, a competition that will award $50,000 non-dilutive grants to as many as 10 early-stage tech companies, is accepting applications until Thursday at 11 p.m. Applicants must submit financial projections, a business plan and a two-minute pitch video.
The competition aims to establish high-growth, I.T. sector businesses and jobs in downtown Kansas City, similar to what the Arch Grants startup competition seeks to do in St. Louis.
After an application review process, a LaunchKC judging panel consisting of Kansas City business leaders and national venture capitalists will select the final grant recipients at Techweek Kansas City on Sept. 18.
Winning teams will receive office space, professional services and mentorship in addition to the $50,000 grants.
Techweek, a nationwide startup event, will make its Kansas City debut Sept. 14 to Sept. 20. The weeklong series of events, which is also held in Detroit, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and Miami, brings together executives and entrepreneurs to talk about their experiences and lessons learned in starting and running companies.
