U.S. Census data shows that more than 9,000 Missouri businesses were created in 2013, but Gov. Jay Nixon wants economic development to be the focus of the Legislature’s next session.
Nixon views three items as economic development priorities. He believes continued support of the Missouri Technology Corporation, education and infrastructure improvements will all help in new businesses being created.
The 9,000 businesses created in 2013 put Missouri in the number one spot nationwide. To continue in that ranking, Nixon says the state also needs more transportation money to keep drawing federal matching funds.
