LaunchCode opens Kansas City office

St. Louis-based LaunchCode, a tech-focused nonprofit, has officially launched its Kansas City office.

The new office is located inside the Sprint Accelerator and is focused on creating educational opportunities and connecting aspiring technologists and developers to paid apprenticeships and jobs.

Since its inception in 2013, LaunchCode has partnered with more than 300 companies nationwide to provide paid apprenticeships, which have ranged from back-end Web developers to system analysts to coders. About 90 percent of the apprenticeships have turned into permanent jobs within 90 days.

The nonprofit is continuing to build relationships with local companies and has signed on UMB Financial, Blooom, EyeVerify and Venture360, among others. In the spring, LaunchCode plans to provide computer education and skills training.
