Time is winding down for startups interested in being part of LaunchKC’s second class.
Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. Wednesday for LaunchKC, a program that aims to attract early-stage businesses to Kansas City and help them grow.
Ten startups selected by LaunchKC will each receive a $50,000 non-dilutive grant. They will also have access to mentorship, workspace and professional services. Twenty finalists will be chosen by late August, and the winning companies will be announced in September at TechWeek Kansas City.
In order to qualify for LaunchKC, businesses must have “significant operations or headquarters” in Kansas City or be willing to move them there for two years. The program targets scalable businesses in sectors including advanced manufacturing, agtech, animal health, data analytics, edtech, fintech, health tech, mobile tech, cloud services and real estate tech.
Judges will select companies based on the innovativeness of their product, technology or service; the scalability of the business; and the overall impact of the venture.
LaunchKC is a joint effort of the Downtown Council of Kansas City and the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City. It’s funded by a $250,000 grant from the Missouri Technology Corp. and $250,000 from corporate, public and philanthropic organizations.
Companies interested in applying can do so via LaunchKC’s online application portal.
