Venture capitalists invested $98.6 million to date this year into Missouri companies, mostly from the St. Louis area, according to the latest MoneyTree Report.
It’s a good showing for the state, which over the last five years has averaged roughly $128 million of venture capital investment annually, and it’s ahead of the pace set last year, when Missouri set a record for venture capital invested with $249.88 million spread over 44 deals.
In the second quarter, Missouri companies raised a total of $40.47 million. Some of the biggest deals include EndoStim’s $25 million round, Confluence Life Sciences’ $4.8 million round and a $4 million funding for Bonfyre.
Nationwide, venture dollars deployed to startup companies for the quarter totaled $15.3 billion spread over 961 deals.
