LaunchKC announces 20 startups that will vie for $50,000 grants

LaunchKC on Monday announced the 20 tech startups that have advanced to the final round in a competition for 10 grants worth $50,000 apiece.

The finalists include 11 from the Kansas City metropolitan area, seven from elsewhere in the U.S., and two international applicants. They will all descend on Kansas City in mid-September to vie for a spot in LaunchKC’s next class of 10 startups. In addition to the $50,000 grant, winning startups will receive office space for a year, mentoring support and other perks.

The 20 finalists were selected from a pool of more than 400 applicants.

“This is an outstanding group of finalists. We were looking for the best and brightest applicants for the LaunchKC competition, and we were not disappointed,” Drew Solomon, vice president of business and job development at the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City, said in a press release. “They exceeded our already high expectations.”

LaunchKC is a global grants competition designed to attract tech entrepreneurs to build their companies in downtown Kansas City. This is the second year of the competition.

  • Herd Scout – (Overland Park, KS) – Ag Tech
