MO Made: The ice cream cone

With sweltering summer temperatures upon us, plenty of Missourians will seek sweet relief in the form of ice cream cones.

Fewer Missourians may know that the treat traces its roots to the state.

The cone dates back to the 1904 St.Louis World’s Fair, where vendor Ernest A. Hamwi turned a hot day and a hungry crowd into a business opportunity.

MO Made is a series exploring the origins of popular creations that have roots in Missouri.
