CSPRC Luncheon Meeting

11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Sheraton Clayton Plaza Hotel (7730 Bonhomme Ave., St. Louis)

stl250, newly created to help St. Louis celebrate its 250th anniversary, is putting significant energy into encouraging community-based partnerships and collaborations to benefit St. Louis’ nonprofit community. Erin Budde, stl250’s executive director, will outline the various events being planned for the 2014 celebration, including a comprehensive online storytelling effort to document the history of both individuals and organizations. She’ll also talk about stl250’s plan to help connect volunteers with nonprofits’ service projects. The goal of stl250 is to generate greater civic pride and to help people and organizations connect to each other in more meaningful, long-lasting ways.

St. Charles Real Estate Investors Association: Monthly Meeting/Open Discussion

7 p.m. at Grappa Grill (1644 Country Club Plaza, St. Charles)

We meet the second Tuesday of every month. Mark your calendars. Members have asked to have more networking time and open discussion time so that is what we are doing. Suggestions are always welcomed. Just ask for the Real Estate Group when you get there. There is no charge for the meeting but we do ask that everyone patronize the restaurant and purchase an appetizer and drink at a minimum so we are welcomed back each week.

Kansas City Business for Breakfast

The Youth Entrepreneurs Business for Breakfast is a speakers’ tour held annually in Kansas City to benefit the 1,000 (primarily at-risk) students our nonprofit serves each year, as well as programming for our 10,000 alumni.

The founder of Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shops, Jimmy John Liautaud, will be the keynote speaker. He will share his stories of entrepreneurial success, challenges and insights with an audience of business leaders and a few YE students and alumni.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to assess the current economic, social and political climate for small businesses. In addition, the student should be able to explain how demographic, technological and social changes create opportunities for small business ventures. This course is required for the associate of applied science degree in business entrepreneurship.

10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. starting at Kansas City Startup Village (Hanover Heights near 45th St. and State Line Road)

Thanks to the University of Kansas School of Business, we are happy to announce our first Startup Job Crawl in Kansas City. For this edition, we’ll be traveling across the city and stopping at offices in different pockets of the startup community. The format will extend throughout the day, starting at 10 a.m. with students stopping at Kansas City Startup Village, BetaBlox for a demo day, Kauffman Labs, Digital Sandbox and finishing with Think Big Partners at 4 p.m.

Startup companies not already located in the buildings along the listed tour stops can become involved by filling out the Job Crawl form and denoting Kansas City as their crawl location.
