2014 Energy Efficiency Summit

8-10 a.m. at The Chamber’s Board Room at Union Station (30 W. Pershing Road, Kansas City)

Please join us for a facilitated conversation with key local stakeholders to discuss energy efficiency as an important national and local priority issue, and as a means to:

  • reduce energy consumption
  • create local jobs
  • save money
  • take local action to mitigate climate change, and
  • improve the resiliency of our community to impacts of future weather scenarios.

KC Small Business Networking

7:15-9 a.m. at The Board Room at Union Station (30 W. Pershing Road, Kansas City)

This monthly networking breakfast for small businesses hosted by the KC Chamber typically is held on the first Tuesday of each month from 7:15-9:00 a.m. in the Chamber Board Room at Union Station. The breakfast is presented in collaboration with the Greater Kansas City Federal Executive Board’s Small Business Committee and attended by approximately 80-120 small businesses each month. Following each breakfast is discussion on a topic of interest to small businesses.

Ice House Entrepreneurship Program

5:30-8:30 p.m. at SBTDC – UMKC (4747 Troost Ave., Kansas City)

Have a business idea but don’t know where to start? Do you want to learn how to be an entrepreneur? The Ice House Entrepreneurship Program combines classroom and online coursework to teach eight essentials of an entrepreneurial mindset using the business canvass process to inspire and engage participants.

Startup Grind Kansas City Hosts Toby Rush (Eye Verify)

6-9 p.m. at Cremalab (1815 Central St., Kansas City)

Toby Rush is a serial entrepreneur with 13 years of mobile and wireless experience. As founder and CEO of two mobile ventures, his deep expertise in imaging, sensors and mobility gives him early insight into the trends and technologies impacting consumers and the enterprise. Prior to his two startups, EyeVerify and Rush Tracking Systems, Toby led the product development and QA for SAT Corp, a venture-funded mobile software company. Toby also started and led the MobilEdge practice group for BSI consulting. He started his career with Accenture deploying SAP enterprise systems.

Operation JumpStart

Operation JumpStart is a nationally recognized, highly successful training model for individuals considering starting or expanding a business. Participants will learn essential business planning and preparation skills such as product pricing, legal structure, competition marketing and cash flow management.
