Certified Global Business Professional Exam Training

8 a.m.-5 p.m. at the MU Student Center (901 East Rollins St., Columbia)

This will be a three-day Training and will cover the primary content areas of the CGBP Exam. These areas include: global business management, global marketing, resources and data sources, international supply chain management-with a focus on export facilitation and trade finance. Specific topics covered and skills participants will learn are: Assessing company readiness to export, international business plan development, foreign partner selection, channel management, incoterms, international export documentation, financing export growth, risk management (political, economic, finance), foreign market selection, foreign market entry mode, international logistics-moving freight globally, international trade compliance issues, and international payment methods.

2014 Power of Diversity Celebration

7:30-9:30 a.m. at Westin Crown Center (1 Pershing Road, Kansas City)

The KC Chamber’s POWER of Diversity Breakfast is the region’s premier celebration of the metro area’s culturally diverse business community, recognizing diverse workforce members and corporations that have demonstrated a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

FastTrac NewVenture

9 a.m.-4 p.m. at SBTDC – UMKC (4747 Troost Ave., Kansas City)

In FastTrac NewVenture, a program of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation of Kansas City and brought to you by the UMKC SBTDC and University of Missouri Extension, you will look at all aspects of your proposed company, exploring the feasibility of your business concept and learning how to develop a viable business plan. Participants will learn about startup issues and learn to address the competition, legal matters, marketing and financial management aspects. FastTrac participants don’t just learn about business, they work on their own business endeavors throughout the course. This program is fast-paced and energizing, using guest speakers and lots of group breakout activities.

2014 Environmental Conference at the Lake

All facets of the environmental community will attend the Midwest’s premier environmental conference. General Admission is $350 for members and $395 for non-members.

Operation JumpStart

9 a.m.-4 p.m. at SBTDC at Southeast Missouri State University (920 Broadway St., Cape Girardeau)

Operation JumpStart is a nationally recognized, highly successful training model for individuals considering starting or expanding a business. Participants will learn essential business planning and preparation skills such as product pricing, legal structure, competition marketing and cash flow management.
