Using Prezi for Presentations Workshop

11 a.m.-noon at SBTDC – UMKC (4747 Troost Ave., Kansas City)

Are you tired of apologizing for the use of PowerPoint in your presentations? Do you feel like it’s time to communicate your ideas in a fresh way? Prezi is the new canvas-based, zoom, fly and flow presentation environment that’s gaining popularity as an alternative to PowerPoint and Apple’s Keynote. But Prezi is such a different presentation paradigm that many people struggle with the learning curve and the best way to use the unique features in the best way. In this workshop, we’ll discuss Prezi best practices as well as common Prezi mistakes.  This workshop will be taught by Doug Allen, President of Allen’s Consulting. Lunch will be provided.

2014 Athena Awards

Startup Grind Kansas City Hosts Diana Kander

6- 9 p.m. at Cremalab (1815 Central St., Kansas City)

Diana Kander is a successful entrepreneur, having founded and sold a number of ventures, and a Senior Fellow at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, the largest non-profit in the world dedicated to entrepreneurship and education. Diana draws on her experience as a founder, investor, and academic to design and implement curriculum in educational institutions and the private sector.

ACG Annual Economic Forecast Breakfast

Join ACG annual economic forecast breakfast featureing Alan Beaulieu, one of the country’s most informed economists. Beaulieu is a principal of the ITR Economics where he serves as President. Since 1990, he has been consulting with companies throughout the US, Europe, and Asia on how to forecast, plan, and increase their profits based on business cycle trend analysis. Alan is also the Senior Economic Advisor to NAW, Contributing Editor for Industry Week, and the Chief Economist for HARDI.

Introduction to QuickBooks Pro

9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Stonecrest Mall (3797 Osage Beach Parkway, Osage Beach)

This hands-on Introductory level class will focus on setting up a company or companies in QuickBooks, establishing a Chart of Accounts, payroll and payroll liability procedures, and all customer, vendor and employee features of the software.
