The Missouri House Workforce Development Committee passed a grant program backed by Gov. Mike Parson that would pay for job training for “high-demand” industries.
The $22 million Fast Track Workforce Incentive grant program would cover four semesters of workforce development training in fields for which employers cannot find enough qualified employees. The program would be worth $22 million.
The committee, which consists of 10 Republicans and four Democrats, approved the bill to create the Fast Track program unanimously.
The bill was scheduled for another hearing Wednesday afternoon.
