Legislature approves tax credit for small business hiring
The Missouri Legislature has given final approval to a bill reviving a tax break for small businesses that add employees.
The measure, sent to Gov. Jay Nixon on Wednesday, would let companies with fewer than 50 employees claim a $10,000 tax deduction for each job they create that pays a wage above their county’s average.
The bill also would allow certain businesses to seek exemptions from using a federal database to verify that workers are in the country legally.
