Bipartisan group of senators calls for probe of Greitens

A bipartisan group of senators is calling for a legislative investigation of Gov. Eric Greitens.

Under a resolution filed this week by Sen. Jason Holsman, D-Kansas City, a panel of senators would probe the governor’s use of a donor list from his former charity to raise funds during his 2016 bid for office.

The senators, including Republican Sens. Bob Dixon of Springfield, Doug Libla of Poplar Bluff, Rob Schaaf of St. Joseph and Ryan Silvey of Kansas City, also want to investigate a nonprofit formed to promote Greitens’ agenda.

Parker Briden, a spokesman for Greitens blasted the maneuver, calling it a “temper tantrum.”

Despite the bipartisan support, the legislation is unlikely to go anywhere during the current special session on abortion issues.
