Missouri Auditor Nicole Galloway has launched a new audit into the state’s process of issuing refunds to taxpayers, vowing to determine whether the administration is “getting taxpayers the money they are owed.”
This follows the January release of an audit that showed Missouri has been increasingly late in filing tax returns.
Galloway said the January report showed the state has delayed refunds in order to cover other expenses first.
She also said Missouri’s diminishing cash balance will mean less money to provide returns to taxpayers.
