Supreme Court nomination highlighted in Missouri’s US Senate race

In the days leading up to President Donald Trump’s announcement Monday night that Judge Brett Kavanaugh is his nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court, the subject of that nomination came to the fore in Missouri’s U.S. Senate race.

In the ad, Hawley says, “We decide which values control the Senate, and the Supreme Court.”

Close attention will likely be paid to the decision made by U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill, the Missouri Democrat, in the confirmation vote over Kavanaugh.

Mitch McConnell, the Republican Majority Leader, has tentatively set the date for the vote in mid-October, weeks ahead of the November election.
