In travel agency tie-up, Acendas acquires Gwin’s

Kansas City-based Acendas Travel is acquiring Kirkwood-based Gwin’s Travel, with the deal effective immediately, according to an Acendas press release.

Gwin’s has 30 employees total in the St. Louis area, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Gwin’s will remain as a stand-alone agency and keep its name. Owner Rhonda Kaminski will retire, but existing staff will remain.

“The move follows our strategy to grow in the Midwest by acquiring agencies with a track record of success and a culture which aligns with ours,” Acendas Travel President Brent Blake said in the release.

Acendas was founded in Kansas City in 1982. Gwin’s was founded in 1979 and sold to Kaminski in 2015.
