Kansas City-based cosmetics retailer Beauty Brands will be closing 25 stores over the next few weeks.
About a third of the company’s corporate staff will be cut as well, leaving around 50 employees.
The downsizing is a result of increased competition in the beauty industry, Beauty Brands CEO Caryn Lerner said, citing a need for “organizational changes” in the face of industry headwinds.
None of Beauty Brands’ 10 Missouri locations will be affected by the closures, which will leave the chain with 33 stores in 10 states.
