TreeHouse Foods to lay off 170 St. Louis workers

TreeHouse Foods plans to close its St. Louis office this summer and lay off 170 workers. The Oak Brook, Illinois-based company plans to shutter the office in order to reduce costs.

The closure will take place on June 28. The company said employees will receive separation pay and outplacement assistance.

TreeHouse acquired Ralcorp, a private-label food business that was based in St. Louis, in 2015.

The company said the work previously done by the St. Louis employees would be incorporated into the company’s facilities in the Chicago suburbs.

Costs associated with closing the St. Louis office will total about $7.8 million, according to the company.
