Ascension shakes up structure, announces leadership changes

Three top executives plan to leave Ascension as the Edmundson-based health care system shakes up its corporate structure.

The departing executives are:

  • Patricia Maryland, executive vice president of Ascension and president and CEO of Ascension Healthcare;
  • John Doyle, executive vice president of Ascension and president and CEO of Ascension Holdings and Ascension Holdings International;
  • Dr. David Pryor, chief clinical officer of Ascension

Ascension, the nation’s largest Catholic health care system, will combine its “health care” and “solutions” divisions, eliminating a two-division structure established in 2012.

Combining the divisions will enhance their ability to go to market, company officials said.

The company will also split the roles of president and CEO. Joseph Impicciche, Ascension’s executive vice president and general counsel, will become president and COO. Anthony Tersigni, Ascension’s president and CEO, will retain the title of chief executive.
