Tradewind Energy finds power buyer for $290M wind project

Tradewind Energy, one of the largest wind energy developers in the country, has found a substantial power buyer for its new $290 million wind farm in central Illinois.

The Indiana Municipal Power Agency agreed to buy 75 megawatts of power from the Lenexa, Kansas-based firm’s Alta Farms Wind Project II, according to a press release.

Construction on the project is set to begin this year and be completed by 2020. It will generate 200 megawatts of renewable energy, enough to power about 64,000 homes each year, according to the release.
