A Honeywell Aerospace facility in Olathe, Kansas, could become a bigger hub for aviation in the coming year as it might add hundreds of jobs.
The facility will gain employees from Honeywell’s Wichita and Renton, Washington, locations as part of the company’s recentralization. A company spokesman declined to say how many jobs would be added, but the Olathe Chamber of Commerce president said he understood it to be “hundreds.”
The plant was built in 1998 and has room for the additional employees.
About 550 employees currently work at the facility, which is a major downgrade from the nearly 1,000 who worked there in 2008.
The Wichita transition will take place by the end of 2019, and the Renton operation will move over the next 18 months.
