KC cannabis clinic offering consultations months before patients can apply to state

Kansas City is already getting a glimpse of Missouri’s medical marijuana market, which won’t be fully available until at least early 2020. Green Clinic opened its doors Wednesday and is currently staffed by two full-time doctors.

The clinic’s doctors determine whether patients qualify for medical marijuana, which voters approved in November. The state won’t begin accepting applications from patients until July 4.

Green Clinic’s founder, Emily Branch, said there’s already a demand for the medical marijuana from patients. She wants to grow her business to include eight clinics across the state.

Patients want to receive certification from doctors so they can have it ready for when the applications open. To qualify for the medical marijuana identification card, patients must have a medical condition, such as glaucoma.

Green Clinic consultations cost $299. Discounts are offered for veterans and other groups.
