A new wind farm planned in Boone County could generate up to 150 megawatts of renewable energy.
The project, proposed by Chicago-based company E.ON Climate & Renewables, would span up to 20,000 acres near Harrisburg in northwestern Boone County.
EC&R has recently issued letters informing landowners of the proposed project and an informational event planned for March 13.
In its letter, EC&R said it would enter into seven-year leases with land owners where the project is planned. The company also claimed owners of about 2,500 acres have already joined the project.
The company did not disclose the exact location of the project or the total number of wind turbines that would be installed.
A company representative told the Missourian that the company is still looking for customers to buy the electricity generated at the new Harrisburg facility.
