Nestlé Purina PetCare, which bases its North American operations in St. Louis, is pouring $115 million into expanding a manufacturing plant in southeast Missouri.
The 500,000-square-foot Bloomfield facility, which produces Tidy Cats litter, currently has 340 employees, according to a press release from the Missouri Department of Economic Development. By the time the 110,000-square-foot expansion is complete in mid-2020, it’s expected to house 30 additional employees.
Tidy Cat experienced 18 percent growth in sales over the previous fours years, which led to the decision to expand, according to the release. Tidy Cats and Purina are units of Swiss-based Nestle.
Purina invested $180 million in Missouri last year, according to the DED, and employs about 3,500 people in the state.
