If Friday at 5 o’clock means you’ll be looking for libations, your best bet in Missouri may be in Gasconade County.
The east-central Missouri county has the state’s most active alcohol licenses per 10,000 residents, according to Missouri Business Alert analysis of state data.
Gasconade County’s roughly 72 licenses per 10,000 residents can be attributed in part to the numerous wineries in the county, which is home to Hermann and its array of vineyards. Each winery typically requires 2-4 different alcohol licenses.
Webster County in southwest Missouri ranks last on the list with 10.6 licenses per 10,000 residents.
Neither St. Louis City nor Jackson County — home to the state’s largest downtown areas and sizable nightlife districts — cracked the top 10, ranking 13th and 55th, respectively.
