Six weeks after hitting store shelves, American Patriot beer has sold its 500,000th beer.
The red-white-and-blue startup brand is off to a strong launch, according to president John Beal. In an interview Monday with Lager Heads, the roofer-turned-brewer said sales of American Patriot have exceeded his expectations so far, with lots of room to grow.
“It’s been unbelievable,” he said. “People are loving it. Stores are wanting it.”
American Patriot is now in about 400 local supermarkets, liquor and convenience stores, all on the Missouri side of the region, Beal said. He’s working on distribution in Illinois as well.
While bottles and cans have been moving, getting a foothold in bars has been a little slower, Beal said. But he’s planning to roll out kegs of American Patriot, which is now only available in six-packs of bottles and cans, within the next few weeks. He’s also working on a wider variety of packaging, all the way up to a 30-pack, and has three more batches of the stuff in the tank at the Wisconsin contract brewery that makes it.
