Missouri inches closer to legalizing sports betting

Legislation regarding sports wagering in Missouri was approved by a House committee last week.

The bill would legalize sports gambling and slot machines in “entertainment districts” for anyone 21 or older.

Both sports wagering and slot machines have been a controversial issues at the Missouri Capitol.

The bill, House Bill 2088, won the backing of the House Special Committee on Government Oversight.

Rep. Dan Shaul, R-Imperial, sponsored the bill and has pointed out that 18 other states will legalize sports gambling by year’s end, Missourinet reports.
