Chiefs’ Nnadi celebrates Super Bowl by paying adoption fees at KC pet shelter

Kansas City Chiefs lineman Derrick Nnadi celebrated his team’s Super Bowl win by paying adoption fees for over 100 shelter dogs. In honor of the Chiefs’ 31-20 victory over San Francisco, Nnadi paid adoption fees for every dog at the KC Pet Project shelter.

“Thanks to his incredible support, more than 100 available dogs in our care will have their adoption fees sponsored starting today,” KC Pet Project spokesperson Tori Fugate told CNN.

That’s an estimated $15,000 donated. The average adoption fee is $150.

At least 60 dogs have already found new homes thanks to Nnadi.

The KC Pet Project has partnered with the Derrick Nnadi Foundation since 2019.

According to CNN, Nnadi’s love for his own dog, Rocky, inspired him to help other animals.

“When I first got him, he was very timid,” Nnadi told CNN. “It made me think of how other animals, whether they’re owned or in a shelter, are feeling scared and alone.
