Investor anxiety over the coronavirus outbreak drove down stocks across the globe Monday. One of the hardest-hit local companies, AMC Entertainment Holdings, saw its shares close down 5.5%.
The spread of the coronavirus has caused more people to avoid crowded places, such as movie theaters.
AMC does not operate movie theaters in China, but its biggest shareholder is Chinese conglomerate Dalian Wanda Group. AMC does operate theaters in Italy, where a surge of infections has been identified, KCUR reports.
Other Kansas City-area companies that saw their stocks drop include Sprint, Cerner and UMB Financial.
