The University of Missouri is beginning a gradual reopening, including some athletics operations, the Columbia Missourian reports.
A facility at MU’s Memorial Stadium resumed operations Monday, with screenings and social distancing enforced. According to an athletics department representative, two other facilities could follow soon after.
Athletes returning to Columbia will be expected to self-quarantine for three to five days once they arrive.
“We’re going about this in a very methodical, systematic way that respects the concerns of all faculty and staff,” MU spokesperson Christian Basi told the Missourian.
The athletics department is working with campus leadership to get some coaches and staff back to work before athletes arrive. Currently, there are a minimal number of employees on MU’s campus after employees have been instructed to work from home.
