KC allows restaurants to expand outdoor seating amid pandemic restrictions

Some Kansas City restaurants are expanding outdoor seating to comply with social distancing restrictions, The Kansas City Star reports.

The Kansas City Council unanimously approved a plan allowing restaurants to apply for permits to extend seating into parking lots and sidewalks.

Currently, tables inside restaurants must be spaced 10 feet apart, among other coronavirus safety restrictions and guidelines.

Under new ordinances, restaurants with permits can run street cafes and eliminate parking ratio requirements. Another ordinance extends relaxed enforcement of liquor rules, allowing for to-go drinks.
