COVID-19 outbreak hits KC paper products company, infects 200

A COVID-19 outbreak at Aspen Paper Products in Kansas City has infected 200 residents, city health officials announced Tuesday.

The company, which makes a variety of paper products, including plates, bowls and cups, has about 850 employees in total.

In mid-May, test results first showed that an Aspen employee had tested positive for COVID-19. The company provided testing for employees on May 29 and 30 after positive cases began to increase.

The city health department said it is working to contain the outbreak by providing the company with safety guidelines regarding social distancing, sanitization, personal protective equipment, temperature checks before entering the building and a testing schedule.
