The future for the 2020 concert season in Kansas City is growing bleaker by the week, the Kansas City Star reports.
Big-name acts like Elton John and Alicia Keys have canceled their shows, while others like Cher and Rage Against the Machine have postponed.
Some acts are still selling tickets to shows that may not happen. Getting refunds has proven to be a hassle for some customers.
However, smaller venues may see a ray of hope, with shows scheduled to resume in July with limited capacity. Kansas City’s Knuckleheads venue has been a pioneer of such events, holding its first concert on May 15 at 10% of its 1,200-person capacity.
Fans can expect to see a surplus of shows in 2021. Next year’s concert schedule is already filling up with the canceled shows and tours.
