The St. Louis Cardinals cancelled their workouts Monday at Busch Stadium because the players’ COVID-19 test results were not yet available. Some players took their first test Friday. The delay has kept them away from the field, the St. Louis Dispatch reports.
Delays took place due to a delivery issue related to the Fourth of July holiday.
Major League Baseball does not expect further test delays in the future, according to a statement from the league.
Joe Mazeliak, president of the baseball operations for the Cardinals, said test results could be available as soon as Monday evening.
