The Kansas City Chiefs have reached an agreement with Patrick Mahomes to extend his contract through 2031, ESPN reports.
The deal is worth between $450 million and up to $503 million over the 10-year period, according to league sources. The contract extension included a $140 million injury guarantee and a no-trade clause.
With this contract over the next 12 seasons, Mahomes will have the highest valued contract in American professional sports.
“Since he joined the Chiefs just a few years ago, Patrick has developed into one of the most prolific athletes in all of sport,” Kansas City Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt said in a statement.
