Kansas City-based casino plans $61 million upgrade

The new owner of Kansas City-based Isle of Capri Casino plans a $61 million upgrade, the Kansas City Star reports. The new plans will replace the riverboat exterior with a modern look. They will also add a new restaurant, spa and more.

Financial reports from the Missouri Gaming Commission show that the riverboat casino struggles in comparison to the other three casinos in the area.

Port KC President and CEO Jon Stephens said the redevelopment must seek approval from city hall. He said that reinvestment in the port will support the greater riverfront area.
